This course was entertaining in terms of the writing we did but difficult with the deadlines given. Each assignment challenged a different segment of writing since the prompts were unique and required different formats. As the course continued, I began to learn the structure of the class and the format in how our writing must be presented. The best way I learned to grow in this course was through peer review mostly, as I compared my writing to my colleagues writing and added any tricks or tips into my writing. This development enabled me to meet the course learning objectives and, as a result, improve my writing skills. These differing major assignments include the formal letter of introduction, the lab report analysis, the technical description, the leadership-presentation, accompanying self-reflection memos, the written proposal, and proposal presentation.

The formal letter of introduction was simple and self explanatory for me, it was a way to address myself as a person and as an engineering student. This formal letter allowed me to address my major, career goals, short terms goals in the course, and my long term goals for this course as well.

The lab report analysis is where I struggled the most, not only did the pace of this assignment catch me off guard, but I found it very difficult to find three lab reports that were able to put into one big lab report analysis. This was the paper that I did the most poor on and it was one hundred percent because I procrastinated and I didn’t meet the deadlines. This impacted me because when I didn’t meet the deadlines, that caused me to lose time on peer review and I didn’t get that feedback that could’ve helped me as I was writing the final paper.

The technical description was very long for me because it was basically picking an object and describing it in very specific details, part by part so that the person reading it can create an image in their head. I chose a mechanical pencil so it was easy to search up the main parts and the sub parts. Writing is was the difficult part because I had to connect each part to the previous part and explaining it in full detail was challenging for me.

The leadership-presentation was simple for me because the topic was one of the easier topics and making the slides for my presentation was simple as well. Presenting in class was the challenging part because I usually get really nervous to speak in front of the class, but after that experience my confidence went up after how well it went during my presentation.

The group proposal was challenging for the group as we did not know what innovation to write about, but after we came to an agreement in that, the writing and presentation part went by smoothly and efficiently.

Overall, this course has assisted me in meeting a variety of course learning objectives and has enhanced my writing skills. These are abilities that I will continue to develop in the future.
