Good Day, Professor Rodwell
My name is Edwin Negrete Ramos. I am a freshman at CCNY and I am ready to get started in this class. I am still undecided but I am leaning towards engineering or business. I chose this class because it allows me to use my creative mind into technical writing and put it into words. I tend to think that I am a creative person and someone who has a lot to say but struggles to put it down on paper. I’m also a person who is always looking to improve and is never satisfied in the position I’m in because I think I can always do better and be a better person. I think this class can expand my thinking to a whole new level of engineering and allow me to write it down on paper. It’s a chance to get a deeper understanding of English engineering. I’m looking forward to proving my ability in writing in this class and aiming for every single point out of those 120 points.
My short term goals for this class is keeping up to date with all my assignments and making sure that I avoid procrastination to succeed in this class. Another short term goal I have for this class is having a good relationship with my classmates as well as my professor. Another short term goal is participating more in this English class because I tend to avoid participating because I’m afraid to get something wrong, but in this class that’s a goal I’m setting for myself. The only way I can improve is by failing, sometimes a person needs to experience failure to succeed. I’m hoping this class will allow me to expand my thinking and become a more open minded student and person
My long term goal for this class is to improve my writing and feel much more confident in my ability to write much more fluently. Another long term goal for this class and in general is learning how to evaluate certain scenarios in this engineering role. I hope I can come out of this class content with the work I produced that would help me in my next English classes or even in a real life scenario. Another long term goal which is to help me become more comfortable speaking or presenting in class. When speaking in front of many other classmates, I usually get very nervous or stutter or even mix up my words. So, I’m hoping that with these presentations that we have to do, it would take away my stage fright and allow me to improve in my presenting performance. I feel like learning how to speak in front of people can really help in life in general such as job interviews, events, or just simply building connections with people that can build my success.
Thank you
E. Negrete Ramos
